Happy 4th Birthday Simon!

When asked how old he is now, Simon replies “What comes after 3?”

Oh yes, Simon is finally 4! I can’t say that age 3 is my favorite stage.  Whoever said 2 was trouble didn’t have a 3-year-old!

Here is a list of Simon’s favorites at age 4 – in his own words…

Favorite color: i wike bwack and wed.  what’s YOUR favowite cowor? no, you can’t wike bwack because girls can only wike pink or purple.

Favorite Superhero: the weader…i think it’s Superman

Favorite food: everything but ‘cept hot stuff…hot peppers, jalapeno’s

Favorite Restaurant: sushi.  you know the place cwose to our house?  and the place wiff the dragon roll?

Favorite thing to do:  go to my friend’s house.  But not my house.  because remember…we just have boring toys.  maybe you could show me how to dwive to my friends houses.

EAT MORE and more and more

This week I was craving something from the homeland.  A chewy Eat More (Canadian chocolate bar).  Growing up, my best friend was a genius at making these homemade.  I would try but mine would never turn out as good as hers.  Until today.  Although it could have something to do with the fact that I haven’t had one in years!

Eat More bar

1 cup of Pure Canadian Honey

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup bran

1 cup chopped peanuts

1/2 cup chopped sunflower seeds

1/2 cup peanut butter

Melt the first 2 ingredients together over low heat.  Add remaining ingredients; mix over low heat until it boils.  Pour into a greased 9×13 pan; press well.  Let cool.  Eat.  And then, eat more!

i scream you scream we all scream for ice cream!

With the days still being so hot, it seemed about time to try to make our own ice cream…in a bag!  So after school today we got busy and mixed:

2 tbsp sugar

1 cup half and half cream

and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract

poured it in a pint size ziplock and sealed it tightly.

Next we placed:

1/2 cup of coarse salt (we used table salt)

ice cubes

in a gallon-size bag.  We put our smaller bag inside as well and sealed the larger bag shut.  And shook it.  And juggled it.  And rolled it.  And made a mess as the bag opened up spilling out ice cubes.  We shook some more until our hands started showing signs of frost bite.  A little over 5 minutes later our small bag of ice cream mixture had hardened!

Soooo   deeee wishious!

wakey wakey

Don’t you love those days where you never get out of your pj’s?  Well, the boys and I thought it’d be fun to invite our friends over for a breakfast party and do just that.  We told them to roll out of bed and come right over–pajama’s, bed head and all!

We quickly, and when I say quickly, I mean quickly, built a tent in the backyard–and set out some edible crafts!
