Lil Wayne, Part 2

04.04.11. My lil’ Wayne arrives. Eyes wide open. Gorgeous head of hair. Suddenly I am a mom—-Wow…sounds sooo strange!

All of a sudden I’ve entered the world of wet diapers, scheduled feeding times, weight checkups….and the worst of it…wearing flats for a few weeks (ugh…hope that doesn’t last long!)! However, I’m embracing the change and baby Dre makes it easy. I’m learning new skills–such as eating an entire meal in under 5 mins, emptying the dishwasher using only 1 hand…and planning my entire day in 3 hour intervals.

Dre is a very calm baby. He rarely cries and has a very sweet demeanor.  He is very alert and loves to sit back and watch what is going on. He loves being in the moby wrap and walking around with one of us and loooooves being held and cuddled. His little smile is absolutely precious and melts my heart every time!

Here are a few shots of my lil man.

Sleepy smiles.

Biiiig Yawn!

Imitating dad’s facial expressions.

Baby Sneeze!

One of my favorite pictures of lil Dre.

Fields of Gold

When it has been weeks of dull winter in Northern California, I always look forward to this particular sign of spring…wild mustard growing in the bare orchards.   I felt it was important to celebrate nature’s way of throwing a party, so I invited these two little people to help me!

Calling all Autobots – It’s time to roll out!

My son Noah has transformed into a 6-year-old!  Luck was on our side when there was a break in the rain and we were able to have the party in the backyard.  Good thing, since all he wanted for his party was a transformer pinata…long story short, he ended up with 2!

Transformers awaiting their turn to attack the pinata.

Simon laughing maniacally while collecting his loot.

Wouldn’t be a boys party without some messy situations!

Hey baby, let’s go to Vegas!

Our most recent adventure was a few family days in Las Vegas…the city that never sleeps.  No big deal we thought, sounds like a night at our house.  I’d admit we were a little crazy taking our children there…without a stroller!  A person can afford to eat at the buffets there considering how much walking you do.  Here’s a few of the family friendly things we fit in:  the Secret Garden and Dolphin habitat at the Mirage (caught ourselves a peep show…from the dolphins!  I suppose this is to be expected, we were in Las Vegas after all!), the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay where Simon said the elephants were his favorite (he also said that about the SF zoo and there were no elephants there either), The Magic and Tigers of Rick Thomas (Noah’s still wondering where the lady disappeared to), the fountains at the Bellagio and of course, the hustle and bustle and lights of the strip.

Dreaming of a white Christmas

I went out to visit my friend the other day and snapped a few ‘winter’ scenes on her gorgeous piece of property.  I drove home with a bag full of fresh off the tree oranges, muddy clothes and two crying boys who kept asking me to turn around so that they could go back and keep playing!
