Fresh off the jet…sharper than Gillette….

We love having visitors and this week we had Cole, a friend of Wayne’s, come visit. It was nice to have someone who shares my love from WEEZY!! Thanks for coming Cole, we had a blast!

Overheard in New York:
Unwitting tourist to hot dog vendor: Can I see your sausage before I buy?
Hot dog vendor: Uh…Excuse me, hon?

A few sights along our travels….

Every street you head down you see new and interesting buildings.

A quiet evening in Bryant Park

The quietest I have EVER seen Grand Central! A huge difference from the 5pm rush!

Where the wild ones go

Gray Lodge Wildlife Refuge is a vacation destination to approximately 2 million migrating birds that pass through California.  My husband and I often hike the area, binoculars and camera in hand, with our own ‘wild ones’ looking for creatures all shapes and sizes.  This makes it difficult to actually photograph the wildlife–lets just say they get a little disturbed!

The Sutter Buttes, the worlds smallest mountain range, make a beautiful backdrop for the sanctuary.  The buttes are the remnants of an ancient volcano, and are the only interruption in the 500 miles of fertile plains that make up the Central Valley.

My kind of Santa

What a way to spend Christmas!

Since moving down here  away from our families we’ve had to start making our own traditions.  Mothers/Fathers day, Christmas, Thanksgiving…no complaints about celebrating that twice a year!  So this year for Christmas we got a hotel in Santa Cruz right on the beach next to the wharf and just down from the boardwalk.   What’s better than listening to the waves crash on the shore as you’re drifting off to sleep?

If you’re ever looking for a hotel in California, Joie de Vivre has a collection of boutique hotels that are stunning!
