Hey baby, let’s go to Vegas!

Our most recent adventure was a few family days in Las Vegas…the city that never sleeps.  No big deal we thought, sounds like a night at our house.  I’d admit we were a little crazy taking our children there…without a stroller!  A person can afford to eat at the buffets there considering how much walking you do.  Here’s a few of the family friendly things we fit in:  the Secret Garden and Dolphin habitat at the Mirage (caught ourselves a peep show…from the dolphins!  I suppose this is to be expected, we were in Las Vegas after all!), the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay where Simon said the elephants were his favorite (he also said that about the SF zoo and there were no elephants there either), The Magic and Tigers of Rick Thomas (Noah’s still wondering where the lady disappeared to), the fountains at the Bellagio and of course, the hustle and bustle and lights of the strip.

Wool jackets and riding boots

Brrrrr!….Helloo winter in New York! Yes…it is freezing cold, there are thousands of tourists crowding the streets and everyone is fanatic to finish their holiday shopping….Despite the craziness, New York is still the most beautiful city in my eyes.

A few shots from around the city.

New York is famous for the incredible window displays that many of our larger Department Stores unveil every holiday season. Below are the holiday windows at Bergdorf Goodman. This year’s title is”Wish You Were Here” . The displays are organized by means of transportation. “Full Speed Ahead” has nautical mannequins piloting a boat, “Daytripping” is all about space travel and the vehicle in “A Guided Tour” is a flying horse.

Morning fog….Taken with my Blackberry out the back door.

the S family

Time was running out!  There were only a few weekends before Christmas and the weather had been really crummy.  What could have turned out to be a wet soggy disaster turned into some beautiful images.   Not that you could make this sweet family look bad!  And the twins did so well, I can still hear them….CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!

Dreaming of a white Christmas

I went out to visit my friend the other day and snapped a few ‘winter’ scenes on her gorgeous piece of property.  I drove home with a bag full of fresh off the tree oranges, muddy clothes and two crying boys who kept asking me to turn around so that they could go back and keep playing!

Q + C {couples}

You know those friends that you’re comfortable with even in those awkward silent moments?  Well, that’s the kind of friendship my family has with this couple.  Actually, when I think about it there are no silent moments when her and I are around!?!  hmmmm…

Since we met them 3 years ago there’s been no rock unturned.  For the most part the guys talk about their jobs(they’re both nurses…MALE nurses no less!  So adorable how some feel the need to clarify).  Us ladies…well…there’s nothing that we haven’t discussed.  Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson’s split, chocolate covered almonds with peanut butter or without, the lasting power of UGGs, you know the important stuff.  I’m so glad you two came into our life.  Who else would I call when I’m stuck in my garage or need someone to stand in while I’m location hunting?  Thanks again!
