‘Merica

Not knowing if we were totally crazy or totally lucky,we packed up a Uhaul, left New York….and headed out to Oregon. I had a good laugh at all the random things we came across…the world’s largest coffee pot, a tree growing in a rock, Abraham Lincoln, the world’s largest truck stop…etc. Eleven stunning states of ‘Merica….here are some instagrammers of our trip.

summer lovin’

Our summer was busy.  Busy doing what I’m not sure?!  Time was flying so before it was too late and summer break was over, we headed out-of-town to do something…memorable!

For the first half of our trip we headed down to Monterey where the boys did some deep-sea fishing, I did some uninterrupted sun bathing and together we visited the aquarium.

The last half of our week we travelled north through the Avenue of the Giants and then spent the rest of our time relaxing in Fort Bragg.

Loved the fog in the morning in Fort Bragg…so chill…

Glass Beach is one of my all time favorite beaches.  As you can tell it’s not because of the sun bathing!

The only time I condone littering is when polished sea glass is the result!  The whole beach is covered in treasure.

So happy we got out-of-town.  Family time like this is treasure enough for me!

Monday@2 – family

What does your Monday at 2pm look like?

Photos in order of timezone:

I had planned at bike trip around Alajärvi Lake but duck season opened at 12 noon today, several hunters were out firing shots on the lake so I stopped at 2pm at the Pynttäri grain elevator to photograph a favorite structure.

Cruisen’ on through Nebraska! State number 7 of the 10 states we will go through on our journey to our new life adventure in Oregon.  The flat land and huge sky remind me of beautiful ‘ol Saskatchewan!

Soon to be Eugene, Oregon, Jennifer Petays-Tschetter

Day two of being sick with a cold (a cold, in the summer?  not cool!)  So I decided to lounge instead of cleaning up the dust bunnies that have invaded my house!

A change can do you good…Part 2

We’re MOVING! Yes, our time in New York has finally come to an end. Wayne has received his PhD and we are ready for our next adventure. ….And that adventure is taking us to….Eugene, Oregon! Wayne scored an awesome postdoctoral position at the University of Oregon and will continue to do all kinds of smart things that I can’t even begin to try to explain on this blog post.

I don’t know anything about Eugene. In fact, the only thing I know about Oregon is from playing Oregon Trail–and that didn’t always seem to end well! I remember lots of  wooden wheels falling off…and not a lot of food…..SO if you are from Eugene or been to Eugene…hit a sister up, eh!?

The rest of our summer will be packing and trying to make the most of our last month in New York! Will I miss New York? ABSOLUTELY! But the world is a big place and I can’t wait to explore another part of it.

Christmas in Japantown

This year to keep with our Christmas tradition we got out-of-town and stayed at yet another beautiful Joie de Vivre boutique hotel.  The modern anime themed Hotel Tomo located in Japantown, San Francisco looked like something the boys would get a kick out of.  We drove in Christmas day, explored Japantown, dined on udon, tempura and sushi and then went back to the hotel to build Noah’s (purely coincidental) Ninjago Lego’s.

How fun is this disposable camera?  Jenn picked this up for my birthday and I know, I know, we weren’t in Chinatown but still…fun right?  Some of the fortunes were just too perfect!
