Monday @ 2

What does your Monday at 2pm look like? That was the idea of our photo project for this week. We enlisted the help of family and friends across the globe and armed with camera phones and canons, this is what we came up with….

Photos in order of timezone:

Extensive hours on the beach leads to the mastering of the handstand. Surfers Paradise as a back drop is merely a coincidence. But never the less, a nice touch.

Enjoying an hour of quiet time while Dre naps…candy, people.com and maybe even some facebook creep time.

Today was about enjoying the beautiful sunshine + being outdoors, I just got home from a fun shoot of my niece + nephew and took my Mom’s pup for a run down by our pond.   The ice has been melting on with this incredibly mild winter weather.

 Winter
I wake with intent walk farther gather what falls carry it folded in the hollow of my hand—like garbage—like hope I can’t remember the smallest promises.

Monday’s errands.  And there is a lot of them.   Library, bank, post office, gas station, Walgreens and Walmart, with a 4-year-old in tow.  All before picking up Noah from school in 45min?  Yeh, not gonna happen!

We plan to do this project again…so let us know if you’d like to participate!

Annual convention of NERDS….um…i mean….

This year The Society of Neuroscience gathered in Washington, DC for their annual meeting. While Wayne the brain attended lectures, presented and did all kinds of smart stuff, Dre and I ripped around the city to check out the sights.  I’m a huge fan of this clean and beautiful city.  So many free museums to check out and although I’m usually bored with the history babble, there is something about Washington that makes it somewhat interesting.

I swear that everyone who lives downtown either jogs or does some form of outdoor physical activity – which makes the city seem fresh and energetic.  Not to mention that the people are so kind – either that or I’m beginning to think that the rude New Yorker is the norm?!  A few images from our week…

And my darling little man in the beautiful fall leaves.

Since we sometimes blog about fashion…I thought I’d add these last pictures. There was a rally around the White House which had all these people riding around on bicycles. They were dressed in this very ‘Mad Men’ style…and I loved it!

Vacation Planking Part II

Almost every summer for the last few years our little family has made the trip home to Saskatchewan for a graduation, wedding, another graduation…the list goes on.  But this year there was no grand event so instead we went to visit friends in Seattle and then up to Davids brother and family in Vancouver,BC.

Our planking got off to a great start in Weed, California!  Level of Difficulty: 6.  Blazing hot pavement searing through my clothes as David takes 3 years to use my camera.

Point Defiance Park Planking (Tacoma).  Taking hiking to the next level.

Pike’s Market in Seattle

The first ever Starbucks–I felt a little vintage action was required!

Sword fighting in front of the gum wall.  No volunteers for planking here.

Slug bug plank.  Level of difficulty: 8.  Especially with a 3 yr old directing.

Crossed the border to meet up with some Cooke cousins.

White Rock Planking. Level of Difficulty: 10.  Assistance required.

Good bye sweet boys!

Submerged Plank.  Level of Difficulty:  2.  Those swim lessons paid off!

Ahhhh…home…back to the sweltering heat…

Vacation planking

Wayne and I decided to check out the Jersey Shore this year for a little getaway…and we loved every minute of it! I will say that vacationing with a baby is much different that vacationing as a couple! Melissa and I were both heading off on vacation and decided to incorporate some planking into our holiday shots. Here are a few from our time away….Check back later for some Cooke vacation Planking!

Along the boardwalk there are all sorts of games…For only 5 dollars…you can win a coach bag! Haha!

Yes….I had to check out the Shore Store ….and the MTV house!

We heart visitors!

Back in March our friends from back home Andrew and Laurie, called and said they would be vacationing in our part of the country and we instantly started making plans.  Napa Valley was on their list so we insisted we meet up with them at Castello di Amorosa.  We’ve been there a few times so I wasn’t as snap happy as the first few times!  This first image I had to dig up from the archives…

A tour of the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield was on our way home…Great right?  Jack the kids up on sugar for the ride home!  Who helped plan this anyway?

Our next day we spent at Bridgeport panning for gold and hiking off our jelly bellies!

The one that found the biggest gold nugget was supposed to pay for supper…we all went home hungry…boooo…
