BLOOD is the new black

My friend and I, also known as Twihards, were hiking this spot a few weeks ago and were fully expecting a vampire or werewolf to fly through there!  Werewolf preferably.

Let the countdown begin!

Memorial day

Well…our memorial day wasn’t as exciting as watching horses and bulls ripping down our main street…but Wayne and I decided to hit up the beach on Memorial day. I LOVE the beach. L.O.V.E the beach. In fact, as I was laying in the smoldering hot sun, I pondered the very deep question of which I liked best….. a day at the beach or a day at the mall? Deep….I know.

Growing up on the prairies the closest area of water was the watering hole where the cows drank…and the best tanning spot was on the roof of our house (although I have great memories of climbing up on the roof, flipping through Seventeen magazine, eating Spitz, listening to Ace of Base and pretending to not hear mom as she yelled for us to help fold laundry.).

Took these shots as we left….it was getting a tad crowded! ha ha! I guess everyone else in Westchester had the same idea as us!

Memorial Day weekend outings

What’s a long weekend without a parade?  Marysville hosted the 1st annual stampede parade and cattle drive.  Yes, that is correct…a cattle drive through downtown Marysville.

And what’s a cattle drive without a few rednecks?!  Watch out or you’ll wipe out in the poo…  Job security for the city street cleaners!

Stopped in for some Thai food Saturday evening…yummers!  We love to come here for the authentic Thai food and atmosphere.

I guess I have no place making fun of rednecks, do I?

On the holiday Monday we took off with some friends to Colfax for some hiking.  GORGeous!  Bear River Trail…a perfect little spot to hike with children and lazy people…like me!  It was actually quite beneficial to have the kidlets with us because they would notice things at their level that I would have never seen.  AND they like to take breaks…like me!

In a state of Sunshine

So I’m a little slow at posting images from my spring vacation in Florida.  Our plans consisted of spending the first week moving around to a few different locations.   The second week we met up with David’s parents and sisters family.  Here is the condensed version of our two-week vacation.

We flew out on Noah’s birthday so a few days later we treated him to Disney World.  It wasn’t initially part of the plan until we heard about the ‘Give A Day, Get A Day’ program through Disney.  Volunteer for a day through an approved agency and voila, free tickets to a Disney park!  How great is that?

Auntie Jenn, you’re not the only one addicted to the blue fluffy stuff!

Daytona beach—home to Nascar, crazed spring breakers and vehicles driving on the beach.  None of which I’m crazy about!  This Nervous Nelly didn’t do much relaxing here!  The sand was gorgeous though, so fine and squeaky.

By the end of the first week we were down in Fort Lauderdale skimming over the alligators!  I’m telling you priorities change when you have little boys.  Say goodbye to outlet malls and hello to holding baby alligators and iguanas!

Ahhhhhhh…..Palm Coast.  We finally are going to stay in one spot for a week!  This is where we met up with David’s family.  Last time we’d seen our nephews was 3 years ago.  We would spend our mornings down by the water hunting for treasures and the afternoons at the pool swimming and chewin’ the fat.

Coquina–our beach was made up of this wicked cool stuff.  The only time I put my camera down was to load my pockets with it!  It’s mainly composed of mineral calcite, often including some phosphate, in the form of seashells or coral.  Blah, blah and blah…wikipedia gibberish…

Snapped off a few family pics for my sister-in-law.

KIP:Keep It Pretty

I like pretty things and I like it when people make the world….um….prettier. I like the way this lady thinks.

Artist Katherine Daniels.
“This 600-foot installation along a South Street construction fence features ribbon-like stitches of green and white materials woven in geometric patterns into wire mesh to evoke stems and vines. Colorfully painted spools and jar lids, all of which have been reclaimed or recycled, convey the “flowers” of this angular garden.”

Otherwise….it would just be a boring fence-but now….its Pretty!
