wakey wakey

Don’t you love those days where you never get out of your pj’s?  Well, the boys and I thought it’d be fun to invite our friends over for a breakfast party and do just that.  We told them to roll out of bed and come right over–pajama’s, bed head and all!

We quickly, and when I say quickly, I mean quickly, built a tent in the backyard–and set out some edible crafts!

Baby U

Handsome little Urban.  Born on his due date.  Fun fact…only five percent of babies greet the world on their due date.  Special delivery or what?!

This lucky little guy has quite the shoe collection already.  I may have to schedule a separate session to photograph them all!

Mr. Alert.  Didn’t want to miss out on what was happening in his little world.  His daddy already has him studying art.  or maybe this could be a promising way to put him to sleep in the future!  Haha…I’m kidding, Darren!

Staring at the clouds

Ahhh. Summer is here and we are enjoying every minute of it! Dre and I spend our days with all kinds of lazy activities–laying on our backs staring at the leaves (he finds it totally fascinating), he loves going for long walks around campus (hoping to run into people who will gush over him and pay him loads of attention), annnnd he loves going for rides in the car, in hopes of finding water fountains (he loooves the sound of water fountains)!

Dre is still the best baby in the world;) He is 3 months now and is cooing and has started giggling…which is the CUTEST thing in the world!…ugh yes, I’m such a ‘new parent’! He is a great little sleeper and we are in the process of getting him to fall asleep on his own…but lets not get started on that! He still loves being held…and will sit content all afternoon if he can sit on someones lap and be part of the adult conversation.

The phrase,  “New York, the concrete jungle” must have been made by someone navigating around with a stroller. Lets just say the city isn’t the most stroller friendly…therefore we have been fairly content to spend the summer rippin around (in our TOMS) in the ‘burbs.

My dear sister convinced me…and I love my TOMS!

LOVE baby smiles!

Fire’crackers’

I came across a wacky recipe online that someone swore by.  Personally, I prefer salty over sweet so I thought, why not?  Easy ingredients and directions, sounds like my kinda recipe!  Prepare to become addicted to these!  I think I just found my Fourth of July snack contribution!

Ingredients

  • 3 sleeves of Saltines
  • 1 c. of oil
  • 1 envelope of ranch dressing mix
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp. red pepper flakes
  • 1-gallon ziploc bag

Instructions

  • Empty sleeves of saltines in the Ziploc bag.
  • Mix oil, ranch dressing mix, pepper and garlic power in container that can pour
  • Pour mix over crackers and try to evenly coat. Lay flat for 20 minutes.
  • Turn bag over for another 20 minutes.

lemonade in the shade

Just recently I was invited to the baby shower event of the year!  The party planning was impeccable!  Complete eye candy!  The details were perfected by many very creative ladies and from one I was able find out how it was all brought together….

“Maria has been an extra older sister of mine for as long as I can remember. I squealed with delight when I found out I was going to be an ‘auntie’! I am sure anyone who knows Maria would agree with me that she is a special kind of friend. The best kind of friend really. One that is always there for you and who is thoughtful, generous and loyal. I was so excited for the opportunity to throw her a baby shower to show her how much she means to me.

Just like the one-of-a-kind friend she is, she also is one-of-a-kind in style and taste. I had strict instructions that pastels and rattles were not to be seen anywhere, which was totally fine by me! Since Baby Siegel was to be a Summer baby and Maria had mentioned that she would love lemonade to be on the menu, (not to mention that time was running out and I desperately needed a theme to get me inspired), I decided to take lemons and run with it. It turned out to be so much fun!

Teal, Bright Yellow and Orange were the colors of choice and from the lemons took over every detail. From the delicious homemade lemon curd party favors, and lemon meringue tarts (made by Maria’s sister-in-law and friend), to the lemon tablecloths and the fresh squeezed lemonade stand – it was the perfect summer party!”
