Staring at the clouds

Ahhh. Summer is here and we are enjoying every minute of it! Dre and I spend our days with all kinds of lazy activities–laying on our backs staring at the leaves (he finds it totally fascinating), he loves going for long walks around campus (hoping to run into people who will gush over him and pay him loads of attention), annnnd he loves going for rides in the car, in hopes of finding water fountains (he loooves the sound of water fountains)!

Dre is still the best baby in the world;) He is 3 months now and is cooing and has started giggling…which is the CUTEST thing in the world!…ugh yes, I’m such a ‘new parent’! He is a great little sleeper and we are in the process of getting him to fall asleep on his own…but lets not get started on that! He still loves being held…and will sit content all afternoon if he can sit on someones lap and be part of the adult conversation.

The phrase,  “New York, the concrete jungle” must have been made by someone navigating around with a stroller. Lets just say the city isn’t the most stroller friendly…therefore we have been fairly content to spend the summer rippin around (in our TOMS) in the ‘burbs.

My dear sister convinced me…and I love my TOMS!

LOVE baby smiles!

High on Dye

Someone seen this idea for jello shooters and thought it would be fun to try with my boys…hahaha…minus the alcohol!  The boys LOVED it…besides they don’t need alcohol to feel good when they’ve got red dye in their system!  And when my husband came home later that evening he thought the boys had sunburned their cheeks!

How to make them:

2 oranges

 1 pkg of jello

1 cup water

  • Slice oranges in half. Using a spoon, scoop out all the flesh and divider pith. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, add Jello and 1 cup boiling water.
  • Pour liquid Jello into orange halves. Refrigerate for approximately 4 hours, or until firm.
  • To serve, slice oranges into wedges.

cherry baby

Love, love, love cherry season!  Cherries were a huge craving for me when I was preggers with the boys.   And I suppose you could say I went through a ‘few’ pints of Cherry Garcia as well…

The boys and I went out and raided our friends cherry tree…cause it’d be the ‘pits’ if the birds got to them first!

Simon sporting a cherry juicestache…this boys face is NEVER clean!

We heart visitors!

Back in March our friends from back home Andrew and Laurie, called and said they would be vacationing in our part of the country and we instantly started making plans.  Napa Valley was on their list so we insisted we meet up with them at Castello di Amorosa.  We’ve been there a few times so I wasn’t as snap happy as the first few times!  This first image I had to dig up from the archives…

A tour of the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield was on our way home…Great right?  Jack the kids up on sugar for the ride home!  Who helped plan this anyway?

Our next day we spent at Bridgeport panning for gold and hiking off our jelly bellies!

The one that found the biggest gold nugget was supposed to pay for supper…we all went home hungry…boooo…

Balancing the break

Here’s me trying to find balance while my kindergartener was home ALL day for many days over Easter break. Balance…uh huh…whatever that means…

Day one…Location scouting.  How fun!  Just what every boy dreams to do on their day off, right?

Day two…Games day. How is it that the youngest always wins? and without help?

Day three…kitchen time. Noah’s favorite – homemade cheesecake!

and hey, let’s throw some cheesecake into the cupcake mix…I mean…recipe…

Day four…bowling with the boys for the first time.  We’re still waiting for Simon’s ball to roll down the lane…

Day 5 and 6…San Francisco. First stop, Exploratorium.

Fort Mason was holding an event called Off The Grid.  Loved this roach coach fest. Such yummy smells, interesting food and live music.

I’m always so impressed when the boys are willing to try new foods.

And the SF zoo. You will never see Noah so happy as at the zoo. It’s like he feels at home…

Not being much of an animal person, I trend watch.  Wishing for extinction on some things and the preservation of others!
