Fall Fashion Week Adventures, Day 1

Fall. Fashion. Week.

Cold or not…here I am! And happy to be here!

There is nothing like fashion week to make you realize that you’ve become lazy with fashion. Since having Dre, I’ve let myself slip into the ‘comfortable dressing’ zone. I mean, who needs to wear 6 inch heels to storytime? Or why bother curling your hair just for a trip to Toys R Us? But I saw Rachel Zoe (who’s baby Skylar is the same age as Dre) and she is looking AMAzing! Nina Garcia….gORGeous! Molly Sims is prego and rockin’ the heels! So here’s to stepping it up!

This February there were even fewer celebs than usual…and some of my favorite models are no longer walking in NYFW (ahhum karly kloss!) BUT I attended 2 shows and was backstage at another…so that made up for it. Over the next week I will try to blog my Fashion Week adventures….Stay tuned!

Celebs at the Rebecca Minkoff show

Nikki Reed of the Twilight Saga

and with her cute husband Paul McDonald (my fav American Idol competitor)!

Actress Abigail Breslin who was sooo sweet! She took time to sign autographs and get pictures taken with every young person that stopped her. So sweet.

Kristin Chenoweth and Jennifer Aspen – watch for them in the upcoming TV series GCB.

Model Actress Carol Alt

Sami Gayle from TV series Blue Bloods

Canada’s own, Coca Rocha!

Model Actress Beverly Johnson

Other fabulous people out and about the area…Joe Zee, creative director of Elle.

Ann Shoket (LOVING her jacket!) – editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine

Zoe Kravitz leaving the Rebecca Taylor show

Designer Charlotte Ronson, with her DJ sister  Samantha arriving only 30 mins before her show!

Angela Simmons (daughter of Russell Simmons) attending the Charlotte Ronson show

While I definitely miss Bryant Park, the scene here is gorgeous day and night.

NY Fashion Week {extras}

This years new and sleeker facade

Inside the tents was a mix of UNICEF, TreSemme, FIJI water, Maybelline, Arizona Iced Tea and the obvious one…Mercedes-Benz.  Oh wait, and US!  Yes, we made it in again this year.  We’d love to tell you the story but then we’d have to kill you.

Media area..bloggers and such madly downloading images and writing reviews.

Street Wear.  Another HUGE part of fashion week is the street fashion.  Can you guess who was showing at the time of these photos?  No doubt Betsey would be proud.

Here is a small sampling of street wear.  We’ll let you decide what you would or wouldn’t be caught dead in!

Spotted: bra cup purse on the left.  Fish shoes on the right.

While hanging around out front I ran into one of my favorite bloggers.  I insist you check out Katie of Color Me Katie on you next blah day.  Her ideas and images always put a smile on my face.  What a doll!   I love that I look tall next to her!  Ok, maybe not tall but…taller?

Don’t Hate Me Cause I’m Beautiful

Overheard:  “Look at those legs!  We all just look like a bunch of country bumpkins next to these girls!”

Honey, I couldn’t agree with you more!  Jealous much?  Definitely!

This year we missed seeing some of our favorite models but enjoyed seeing some of the looks leaving the runway.  Slicked back do’s and heavy brows dominated the runways this season.

A sneak peek at looks from the runways of Project Runway!

Luca Luca model Martha Streck coming from the runway wearing hot pink lipstick and loosely polished waves.

Rebecca Taylor’s girls sported slicked back hair and bright eyes.  Ali Lagarde and Anne Sophie Monrad in shades.

Models for Ruffian had their hair pulled back into equestrian style ponytails.

“The brow is inspired by Elizabeth Taylor; liner inspired by Jacqueline de Ribes from a 1950s photograph by Richard Avedon and blush inspired by Sheena Easton,” said lead makeup artist for MAC cosmetics, James Kaliardos.
