drinking the fog

It’s been a few very busy months since we have moved to the west coast and while Eugene is very unique and hip…it is not quite New York-as far as fun celebs and events to go photograph! So I’ve been a little slow to find things to post here on the blog.

I went from being surrounded by huge amazing buildings (and didn’t think anything could beat that view) to being surrounded by these huge amazing trees.  When seeing them covered by a misty fog, it takes my breath away. Here are a few snaps from this week.

Simon turns 5

I keep telling this kid that he’s not allowed to grow up.  And while it took me forever to post this entry, it doesn’t mean that his birthday didn’t happen:(  He’s a five-year old boy who wishes school was 8 days a week, wonders what God looks like and thinks girls are weird.  He orders caesar salad at every restaurant, thinks convertibles are just cars wearing hoodies and makes up phrases like ‘criminal festival’ and ‘chicken butt’.  So even though I can only get away with kissing him once he’s sleeping, he’s still my little baby who’s not allowed to have anymore birthdays.

What’s the hardest thing about being a kid?  That you can’t do anything.

How old are you when you are a grown up?  13 then 15, 16 and 17.

What are you going to be when you grow up?  A power ranger because they save people.

Who will you be voting to be president?  Mr. Popper.

Would you want to be the president?  Yeh, so I can boss people around.

If the Queen came to lunch what would you serve her?  Pea soup.

Do you think you will ever get married?  No, because at the party I got the coin so I’m going to be rich.

Where are you going to live when you grow up?  At my same house.

WHAT?!  You going to live with us? I thought that when I grew up you were going to be dead. I see.

Where would you like to travel to?  Hawaii because I’ve never been there.

Who would you take with you?  When I’m older I would go by myself.

‘Merica

Not knowing if we were totally crazy or totally lucky,we packed up a Uhaul, left New York….and headed out to Oregon. I had a good laugh at all the random things we came across…the world’s largest coffee pot, a tree growing in a rock, Abraham Lincoln, the world’s largest truck stop…etc. Eleven stunning states of ‘Merica….here are some instagrammers of our trip.

Summer Lovin’ ….us too!

…and what a crazy summer its been!? Its been a while since I’ve had a minute to LOOK at photos I’ve taken this summer, much less BLOG about them! We are getting settled here in Eugene…and thought I’d make one BIG blog about our summer adventures. It’s hard to believe all of this happened in a few short months! I loved the craziness of our summer…but it is nice to slow down and get back into a routine.

Dre seems to have inherited my love for the beach and the pool–and so any moment that we weren’t busy packing…Dre and I were at the beach!

I asked 2 of my beautiful sisters to come out for a farewell New York tour and side road trip to Ohio for a wedding. We had an amazing time with LOTS of laughs! Here are a few of our ‘Farewell NY’ photos…

We cruised all over the city-including the High Line, Washington Square and the ever entertaining and unique Coney Island!

After 4 years of attempting to get tickets…I finally got tickets to a taping of The View! What a coincidence that my sisters happened to be here at the same time..AND within weeks of us leaving! I’m a huge fan of Barbara Walters and was once again completely charmed by her effortless grace. Whoopi on the other hand…maybe not so graceful but totally HAlarious!

We also jacked tickets to Jimmy Fallon–always high energy and super fun! We got to see the uber cute Elijah Wood, the beautiful Freida Pinto and of course…The Roots!

Here are 2 screen shots from the show…as always…the Jimmy Fallon show is full of shenanigans!

One of the most important parts of our summer was Wayne defending his thesis…and passing! I couldn’t be more proud of this super smart, super handsome man!

In my eyes there is nothing more stunning that a beautiful Marchesa gown…but the Niagara Falls may just give Marchesa run for their money! We had to make a quick trip to Canada to exchange our visa’s…and it was a fantastic little getaway. I’ve seen a zillion photos of the falls…and yet when you see them yourself…you are at a loss for words. Beautiful. Simply Beautiful.

summer lovin’

Our summer was busy.  Busy doing what I’m not sure?!  Time was flying so before it was too late and summer break was over, we headed out-of-town to do something…memorable!

For the first half of our trip we headed down to Monterey where the boys did some deep-sea fishing, I did some uninterrupted sun bathing and together we visited the aquarium.

The last half of our week we travelled north through the Avenue of the Giants and then spent the rest of our time relaxing in Fort Bragg.

Loved the fog in the morning in Fort Bragg…so chill…

Glass Beach is one of my all time favorite beaches.  As you can tell it’s not because of the sun bathing!

The only time I condone littering is when polished sea glass is the result!  The whole beach is covered in treasure.

So happy we got out-of-town.  Family time like this is treasure enough for me!
