A Breath of Fresh Air

A few weeks ago Curt and I planned a trip out to Lake Louise in Banff, Alberta to get our snowboarding fix in for the year. When I wasn’t plotting revenge on that FJ cruiser that cut us off to get to the ski hill one second faster, I was snapping photos faster than a hipster at Starbucks. So please, put on your 3D goggles and enjoy the show!

Also if you get the chance to sit it out or dance… just kidding I was gunna say if you get the chance to be in Calgary, stop in at The Uncommons in Inglewood. Seriously the coolest store ever!

And I feel like this post wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t include an obligatory selfie stick photo with dumpsters and mountains in the background. What a view 😉

We, The Timeless

Menswear is timeless.  Golden Rules like;  wide lapels mean a wide tie, brown shoes mean a brown belt, and the tie bar goes between the third and fourth button,  those have been around for years.  We, the Timeless was created to help you incorporate those golden rules into your lifestyle and maybe even teach you how to bend some of those rules.

So whether you are in need of some pointers in the mens fashion world or maybe you have a man in your life that could use some help in that department, go check out: We, The Timeless

Special thanks to co-founders Curtis and Graeme Drummond for letting me be a part of their journey, photographing them and their clothing.

Meet Vanessa

Let me start with a quick intro:

In the summer of 2013, I moved to a city I wasn’t too fond of for schooling and decided in order to pass my time I needed a hobby. Instead of choosing something healthy like jogging or something productive like learning to cook, I chose photography.  It’s better than gambling I figured, so one point for Vanessa.  After taking photos with my iPhone for the mens fashion blog ‘We, the Timeless’ I decided to step up my game and make a SLR purchase.  Yolo.

I’ve always admired my older sisters.  I mean, who wouldn’t.  They’re gorgeous, amazing women and of course their photography is always spot on.  I have always been the lil tag along sister, so once again I’m going to tag along and show you ‘what makes me click’.

Behind the scenes at Porter Grey

Backstage at Porter Grey!!!

For those of you unfamiliar with this line, Porter Grey is an American contemporary sportswear line, founded and run by sisters Kristen and Alexandra O’Neill.

I love this photo…I think that being backstage is so glamorous! The models, the clothes, the designers, celebs etc. But while that is all true…some parts are simply not so fun. It’s cold. It’s boring as you wait for the next look to get ready. The reporters and photographers are always bumping into each other or getting into each others shot. It’s very small with a hundred people all crowding in. And everyone thinks THEIR job is the most important one of all…PR, security, papps, models etc…  ANYWAYS….I love the reality of this picture….two cold and uncomfortable, bored models amongst all the chaos.

The hair team was led by Rebecca Naftzger for Cutler. “She blow-dried the models’ hair with a round brush and curled it with a one-and-a-half-inch curling iron while leaving out the ends. It created this big subtle wave, which complemented the clothes perfectly.”

Jose Rivera, the makeup artist leading the Sephora PRO Beauty team emphasized clean skin; wind-blown cheeks to indicate an outdoorsy, ready-to-face-the-elements strength; a rich and saturated black lash line and an understated and deconstructed lip look with scattered golden shimmer.

Ruffian Fall Fashion Show

What a fantastic way to start my day-The Ruffian fashion show! Brian Wolk and Claude Morais are the designers behind Ruffian. Their press notes stated they were inspired by “viewing bronze sculptures of Henry Moore set against the backdrop of English estates.” You can easily see the english influence-very modest and sophisticated. I am personally in love with these hats…GORGous!

See the video below for the shows opening. Its my favorite part of a fashion show as it sets the tone for the whole show! As luck would have it…I got seats in the second row (!!!) and am seated right behind photographer Douglas Friedman, Actress Amanda Setton and Lorenzo Martone (Marc Jacobs ex).

A few looks from the show.
